City asks Evansville residents to help keep neighborhood drains clean (courierpress.com) — Evansville is launching an "Adopt a Drain" program and asking residents to volunteer to keep nearby storm drains clear of leaves and trash to reduce neighborhood flooding. Participants can claim a drain via an online map, receive a safety kit, and report debris totals quarterly, supporting city crews that already maintain about 9,000 drains a year.
   

2. Evansville City Council to consider data center moratorium (14news.com) — Evansville's City Council is weighing a 180-day moratorium on new data centers within city limits, following a recommendation from the Area Plan Commission. The ordinance gets its first reading Sept. 28 and could immediately pause projects while officials study zoning and potential impacts.
   

3. Unbeaten flag football teams face off at Memorial (14news.com) — Evansville sports fans saw three unbeaten Tri-State flag football teams clash Monday at Memorial, with Memorial edging Castle 34-28 and Mater Dei defeating both Castle and Memorial. The games featured standout quarterback play, big touchdown passes, and creative lateral plays as Memorial, Castle, and Mater Dei battled to keep their perfect records in a lively local showdown.
   

4. Town hall on Indiana's Medicaid work requirements set in Evansville (courierpress.com) — A state-led town hall in Evansville on Sept. 18 will explain new work requirements for Indiana Medicaid, including the Healthy Indiana Plan. Local residents can learn how many hours they'll need to work, study, volunteer, or train to keep coverage and what exemptions might apply before rules start taking effect Jan. 1, 2027.
   

5. Man Mistakenly Tries to Enter Blue House He Thought Was a White Fraternity Mansion – WENG 98.1FM, 107.5 FM & 1530 AM (wengradio.com) — Early Saturday in Evansville, a 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly trying to enter a blue house he believed was a white fraternity mansion, alarming the homeowner. Police say he was heavily intoxicated, repeatedly tried the doors asking to shower, and was booked into Vanderburgh County Jail on a preliminary attempted residential entry charge, with no injuries reported.
