1. EPD say 15 beer cans were found in truck after driver hits building (tristatehomepage.com) — Evansville police say a local man was arrested after allegedly crashing a work truck into a North Main Street building, leaving a trail of damage before being found on Garfield Avenue. Officers report his blood alcohol content tested more than three times the legal limit, with empty beer cans in the cab and a prior intoxicated driving arrest on record.
2. Intoxicated driver nearly hits person in wheelchair while pulling into liquor store, police say (14news.com) — Evansville police say a driver was arrested early Saturday after nearly hitting a person in a wheelchair while pulling into a liquor store parking lot on Covert Avenue. Officers report the truck was seen squealing its tires, the driver showed signs of intoxication, refused all testing, and is now facing operating while intoxicated and reckless driving charges.
3. Evansville man accused of threatening Walmart staff with gun after employee declines to be in his rap video (wthr.com) — Evansville police arrested a 23-year-old man after Walmart employees reported he displayed a handgun and allegedly threatened staff when a worker declined to appear in his rap video. Officers responded to the North First Avenue Neighborhood Market, reviewed surveillance footage, recovered a gun, and booked the suspect into Vanderburgh County Jail, with a court appearance set for October 10.
4. Set-up begins for WSNC Fall Festival (14news.com) — Evansville's West Side Nut Club Fall Festival kicks off Monday on West Franklin Street, with some booths already setting up for a week of food, rides, and the popular half-pot drawing. Organizers say thousands are expected, and families should know kiddie rides will be open Monday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a special family day.
5. University of Evansville basketball kicks off the season with Meeks Madness (tristatehomepage.com) — University of Evansville basketball fans just got their first look at this year's men's and women's Purple Aces during Meeks Madness in Evansville, with contests and player introductions. The men's team debuts against S.E.M.O. here on October 21, and the women open October 25 at Meeks Family Fieldhouse, as both squads regroup and honor the memory of teammate Jordan Scott.
