'Aggressive' Bison Escape From Northern Indiana Farm

The Hamilton Police Department warns community members not to approach the animals if they spot them.

HAMILTON, IN β€” The Hamilton Police Department wants community members to use caution with several bison on the loose in an area spanning from Johnson Lake Road to East Bellefontaine Road and west of 100 east to 200 east. The police department issued the warning Sunday night, adding that efforts to contain the animals would resume at daylight Monday.

WANE reported the animals escaped from a fenced-in area at a rural Steuben County farm.

According to police, the bison aren't friendly and shouldn't be approached because they can become dangerous.

Police advise motorists to drive below the speed limit as the roaming animals' fur coats are dark and not easily visible. Anyone who sees the bison asked to please contact the Hamilton Police Department and report the location.
