Fishers 'granny flat' proposal faces uncertain future after council agenda withdrawal (larryinfishers.com) — A proposal to allow small "granny flat" accessory units in part of downtown Fishers has been pulled from the City Council agenda, leaving its future unclear. The plan would have opened options for backyard cottages or garage apartments in the Nickel Plate District, but residents now must wait while city leaders decide whether to revise, revive, or shelve the idea amid new statewide housing requirements.
2. 'It's never if — it's when': Fishers residents honored with American Red Cross award (youarecurrent.com) — A Fishers lifeguard and the City of Fishers aquatics manager have been honored by the American Red Cross after CPR and AED training helped save two people at a Westfield gym. Their work at Geist Waterfront Park and discounted lifeguard courses at the Fishers Community Center show how local training can prepare residents for real emergencies at home and in public spaces.
3. USA TODAY Sports Super 15 Midwest region football rankings, Week 5 (marconews.com) — Brownsburg's top-ranked football team is set to visit Fishers High School on Friday, Sept. 18, giving local fans a chance to see a regional powerhouse up close. The broader rankings recap how several Midwest programs, including Indiana's Warren Central, are faring early in the 2026 season.
4. New 2026 List of Best Places To Live Includes 8 Utah Cities But Not Park City (ksub590.com) — Fishers earns the No. 2 spot on U.S. News & World Report's new list of the 250 best places to live, just behind Carmel. The rankings emphasize relatively affordable home prices, strong incomes, and commute times, while also comparing Fishers' appeal to several Utah cities that made the list.
