Brooks School Road Bridge Construction Resumes, Pedestrian Access Comes Next Year

FISHERS, IN - There's a new construction update for community members with access to the Brooks School Road bridge. The bridge connecting Fishers and Noblesville has been a topic of conversation among local residents, especially when it comes to pedestrian access. An INDOT spokesperson told Patch Thursday the bridge design has been thoroughly reviewed by the city, INDOT, and design-build partners United Consulting and Milestone Contractors:

"Bridge deck construction will continue as planned, and construction of pedestrian access will resume next year.

Completing the reconstruction of the bridge deck as planned will allow the bridge to be open for vehicular traffic this fall, which is important to many stakeholders in the area. Meanwhile, temporary modifications will be made that will allow for an addition to widen the bridge, which is necessary to accommodate pedestrian access and requires additional time to design and build.

INDOT is dedicated to providing safe and accessible transportation for all Hoosiers. INDOT has been working with the city of Fishers and concerned local residents to reach this decision, which we believe will satisfy all parties."
