Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville Ranked Among State's Safest Cities

PLUS: The number one safest city in Indiana, and where Indianapolis ranks, according to security company SafeWise.

FISHERS, IN - If you live in Carmel, Fishers or Zionsville, your city just received a recognizable ranking.

According to a report by Indy Star, these three cities are among the safest cities in the Hoosier state, ranked by a home security company SafeWise.

How was this decided? The company ranked cities with more than 4,000 people and based this on the number of crimes (violent and property) per 1,000 people, as reported by Indy Star.

The safest Indiana city of all? Ligonier, in northern Indiana.

Zionsville came in second, Carmel at six, and Fishers at number nine, Indy Star reports.

Fishers received the SafeWise nod thanks to for its community crime watch program in several neighborhoods.

According to the report, Carmel reported 13 crimes in 2015, Fishers with 21, and Ligonier with just one.

Indianapolis came in at number 95.
