Off Duty Fishers Police Officer Saves Man's Life

DETAILS: What happened as Fishers police officer Rob Thompson found the 63-year-old victim.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – An off duty Fishers Police officer saved a man’s life after a medical emergency led to a serious crash on I-465, Fox59 reports. According to the news outlet, 63-year-old Mike Heaton was trying to exit I-465 when he felt sick due to a cardiac event, when we was pushed off the road by a semi-truck, hit a guardrail, and went down an embankment before crashing into a tree. Fishers Police officer Rob Thompson happened to be on the road, and ended up responding to the crash, finding Heaton in the driver's seat, in v-tach, Fox59 reports.

The off duty officer went and grabbed his automated external defibrillator (AED), and saved the elderly man's life.
