Fishers Man Arrested In Fire Dept. Fentanyl Theft Investigation

A paramedic has been arrested for reported fentanyl theft from Greenwood Fire Department, while investigation includes other counties.

HANCOCK COUNTY, IN — A Fishers man was arrested Monday as part of an Indiana State Police investigation surrounding the reported theft of fentanyl from the Greenwood City Fire Department on May 30. WTHR reported 41-year-old Jason Howard was a paramedic employed by Seals Ambulance Service, who was taken to the Hancock County Jail on theft and possession of narcotics charges.

The news report says detectives determined at least 34 vials of fentanyl were reported to be taken from fire departments in Hancock County and four other counties where prosecutors are reviewing the investigation.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent and typically used to treat patients with severe pain or to manage pain after surgery.
