Fishers Named 'Best Place To Live In America' By Money

FISHERS, IN — I'll get right to it - Money released its Best Places to Live 2017 list, and our very own Fishers, Indiana took the top spot as the "Best Place to Live in America." Money, in partnership with realtor.com, identified 100 spots across the U.S. with affordable homes, healthy economy and a high quality of life. From there the spots were ranked, and Fishers came in at number one.

Thanks to our standout spot's "Booming city with good schools, low cost of living, and an entrepreneurial buzz," Fishers beat Allen, TX and Monterey Park, CA for the top title.

Money details other factors considered in creating the 2017 list. Team members eliminated any place in the U.S. that had a lack of ethnic diversity, more than double the national crime risk and less than 85% of its state's median household income.

Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness reacted to the exciting news.

"It’s an exciting day in Fishers!" Fadness said. "Money Magazine truly captured what makes our city the #1 Best Place to Live: great schools, low cost of living, and an entrepreneurial buzz. This designation reaffirms the vision of Fishers as a smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial city as it continues to gain momentum not only in Central Indiana but nationally. There’s much more to come in fulfilling that vision, all with the goal of continuing to make Fishers the best place to live, work, and play."

The city said a community celebration will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Green, located at 116th Street and Municipal Drive. The city invites all community members to join the free, all-ages celebration featuring live music, food trucks, and games.
