Fishers Wants To Ban Vaping In City Parks

Fishers Parks and Recreation will present a proposed ordinance centered on banning vaping in city parks to city council members: Report

FISHERS, IN β€” Fishers is looking to ban vaping in its city parks, while cigarettes, pipes and cigars are already prohibited. IndyStar reports the Fishers Parks and Recreation department will present a proposed ordinance to its city council Tuesday night, stating that the proposed ban is β€œin the spirit of promoting a culture of health and positive example for youth.”

What would the proposed ban include? According to IndyStar, the ordinance would prohibit electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) and other cloud-producing nicotine delivery devices from city parks and public spaces, including restaurants and hotel rooms where smoking is banned, but vaping is not.

Chewing tobacco and snuff would also be included in this new ban.

According to the news outlet, the U.S. Surgeon General says the vapor cloud exhaled by those using electronic smoking devices put out dangerous levels of nicotine and other chemicals to people, including young children.
