Indianapolis 9/11 Memorials, Remembrance Events
Local places you can go to remember and honor the thousands of lives lost during Sept. 11, 2001.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Tuesday marks 17 years since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In remembrance of the thousands who lost their lives that day, the following events are taking place:
9/11 Memorial Mass: There will be a memorial mass in remembrance of the 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, including the World Trade Center attacks, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Scecina Memorial High School Gym in Indianapolis. The mass will also be held in remembrance for the first responders who sacrificed their lives that day. Scecina Memorial High School is located at 5000 Nowland Avenue
Ground Zero 360 Exhibit: This traveling exhibit opened Saturday at the Indiana War Memorial, according to several reports, and features artifacts from first responders who lost their lives during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, in addition to several photographs. A tree that survived at Ground Zero has been planted at the Indiana War Memorial, which will host the exhibit until February 2019.

9/11 Memorial: Located at 421 W. Ohio Street in Indianapolis, this memorial was established in 2010 to honor those who perished in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The memorial consists of two 11,000-pound beams from the Twin Towers, and behind those are a standing pair of six-foot tall black granite walls inscribed with remembrances of that day's tragic events in New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
