IPL Warns Customers After Receiving Payment Scam Reports
Indianapolis Power and Light has sent a warning message to customers regarding possible reported payment scammers: Report

Indianapolis Power and Light has sent a warning message to customers after getting several reports of possible payment scammers. In a message, IPL says customers have been reporting they've been contacted by someone "claiming to represent IPL and indicating that their electric service would be disconnected if they did not immediately provide payment information."
IPL wants to remind customers that if they do call you, an IPL representative will have specific and accurate information related to your account. The company adds they don't require a specific payment method or type, and that customers shouldn't provide personal information or agree to requests unless they're confident with whom they're talking to.
The company says if you receive or have received a call that's made you unsure that the caller is an actual IPL employee, please call IPL at 317-261-8444 if you're an IPL customer.
