Police: Comply With Traffic Laws Or Face Consequences

Indiana State Police are telling the public to obey the law as two people were arrested for failing to comply to a traffic stop on I-69.

FISHERS, IN - A warning from Indiana State Police came as two people are in jail for failing to comply to a traffic stop early Tuesday on I-69. Police are telling the public to pull over, as the law requires, if you see red and blue lights in your rear view mirror. This comes as Trooper Brad Tucker stopped a driver, Deuuane Lebron Moore, 44, and his passenger Derrick Houston, 38, for speeding.

Moore was driving a white pickup truck from Zee Cleaning Service of Chattanooga, Tennessee at 86 mph in a 70 mph zone, police report. Tucker stopped the vehicle at the 235 mile marker of I-69 north bound, and spotted a jar of what appeared to be marijuana on the passenger's lap. After confirming it was the drug, the driver and passenger took off north bound, throwing the jar out the window. Tucker was able to catch the duo in the parking lot of the Ricker's Gas Station at the 241 mm exit.

Police report the driver and passenger ended up going to jail instead of receiving tickets for speeding or possession. The driver was taken in for felony Resisting Law Enforcement and Obstruction of Justice, and the passenger for Obstruction of Justice. Because the two endangered themselves and the public, police say the incident is an example of how not obeying the law has serious consequences, and if both men had complied with the trooper, chances are they would’ve both received a ticket and had been allowed to go.
