Two Indianapolis Stations Could Soon Be Owned By Sinclair

Two Indianapolis TV stations could soon be owned by controversial Sinclair Broadcast, the company going viral for anti-fake news statement.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- On Monday several reports and videos of news anchors from stations across the U.S. reading the same script have gone viral, as the statement regarding media bias was handed down by Sinclair Broadcast Group, the same company that's shown interest in purchasing two Indianapolis TV stations. The Sinclair script warned viewers of the troubles surrounding biased and false news that's spreading across social media.

Patch reports that while reading the script, anchors likely promised to report fairly and accurately, asking you to comment on their website if you thought the reporting crossed ethical lines.

Deadspin put the numerous broadcasts containing the statements into one, giant video.

According to USA Today, local Indianapolis stations Fox59 and CBS4, both Tribune Media companies, could become Sinclair stations if a nearly $4 billion deal announced in spring 2017 goes through.

For now, the two stations remain under the direction of Tribune Media, which means the Indianapolis anchors didn't read Sinclair's anti-fake news statement.
