Believe In A Dream brings arts, other education to Fort Wayne youth (journalgazette.net) — A Fort Wayne nonprofit, Believe In A Dream, is expanding free arts and leadership programs for local middle and high school students through a new fall partnership with Pearl Arts. From string ensembles and modern jam sessions to mentorship and tech-focused projects, the group is boosting access to music education and leadership training while helping support public school music departments.
2. Local funeral homes host tributes to Dolly Parton today (journalgazette.net) — Fort Wayne funeral homes are hosting a citywide Dolly Parton tribute today, with four locations inviting residents to share memories and support her Imagination Library. The Allen County Public Library is also teaming up with Fort Wayne FC to promote special-edition library cards, while unions prepare a free Labor Day picnic at Headwaters Park.
3. $1 Million Gift to Expand Music Lesson Scholarships in Northeast Indiana (wowo.com) — A $1 million gift from The James Foundation will significantly expand music lesson scholarships for young students through Fort Wayne-based Pearl Arts. The funding will help hundreds of Northeast Indiana kids access private instruction, while a matching challenge invites additional community support and directs families to scholarship details online.
4. Fort Wayne nonprofit raising money for those impacted by Nepal floods (21alivenews.com) — A Fort Wayne-based nonprofit, Nepali Samaj Fort Wayne, is rallying donations to support victims of a devastating glacier-triggered flood on the Nepal-Tibet border. Local organizer Naresh Khadka says more than $16,000 has already been raised, and he's urging residents to keep giving so relief supplies can reach affected families quickly.
