Priority goes to families at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, with city, nonprofit, and philanthropic partners working together to quickly get cash support to affected residents.

Dyer project is first to use transit development district financing (chicagotribune.com) — Gary is set to see the long-vacant City Methodist Church and St. Mary's Hospital buildings demolished under a new $5.3 million contract, with work at the Genesis Center starting within a month. Regional leaders say the project, along with a new brownfield-focused development entity and scenic byway study, is meant to clear blighted sites and prepare Gary properties for future investment and tourism.
