While NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says Arlington Heights remains in play, Bears leadership stresses their present focus is on building a "world-class" complex in Northwest Indiana, pending final site viability.
   

• Braun announces tuition freeze at Indiana public colleges (chicagotribune.com) — Hammond students at Purdue University Northwest will see their in-state tuition and mandatory fees frozen through the 2026-27 school year under Gov. Mike Braun's statewide order. The two-year freeze covers all 15 Indiana public institutions, though room, board, and out-of-state tuition can still rise, and colleges are being pushed to cut costs and streamline services.
   

• Federal indictment accuses pastor who played in the NFL of lying to buy gun (roysreport.com) — A federal grand jury in the Northern District of Indiana's Hammond Division has indicted former NFL player and pastor Daniel Muir, alleging he lied on a background check form while under felony indictment. The case, tied to earlier state charges involving his teenage son and his Black Hebrew Israelite congregation, now includes a federal firearms count and a September 14 court date in the Hammond-based district.
