Salary: $41,933.00 annually – full-time
- Job Requirements
- Accounting/Finance degree and/or experience preferred
- Ability to do data entry using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Knowledge of office policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
- Ability to work compatibly with others and to work well with the public
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Must be bondable
- Job Duties
- Review and process all claims for the various departments
- Compile various expenditure reports as requested by City Controller
- Evaluate and process NIPSCO utility bills
- Formulate and enforce purchasing policies and procedures
- Advise department heads on proper purchasing methodology
- Participate in assembly of specifications as required by departments
- Attend continuing education programs when available
- Maintain a library of catalogs and literature, cross referenced by product or service and vendor
- Manage Senior/Disabled Resident Tax Rebate Program
- Serve as back-up to Insurance Administrator
- Assist general public at counter and answer telephones
- Performs related duties as required
- Responsibility
Administer the needs of the Purchasing Department and its personnel. Assure the efficient operation of all purchasing functions as related to other departments and agencies. Insure that all purchases will reflect commitment of highest purchasing standards.
- Personal Work Relationships
Daily contact with other department heads, state and federal agencies in promoting and maintaining purchasing policies and procedures. Daily contact with the general public while assisting at the counter or by telephone.

All work is performed in an office with some travel necessary. Very little physical activity is required.
Position will be posted internally only from June 11, 2020 thru June 17, 2020. If the position is not filled internally, it will be held open for external applications an additional ten (10) days. The position will remain posted until filled or no more than ten days.
