City of Hammond Starts Gostlin Street And Sheffield Avenue Reconstruction

Overhead and underground utility relocations and building demolition begin now. The project is expected to be completed in October 2021.

The City of Hammond in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Transportation began the reconstruction of Gostlin Street from the Indiana-Illinois state line to Sheffield and Sheffield Avenue from Gostlin to Marble Street. The $10 million Chicago Street Reconstruction Project includes a new roundabout at Sheffield Avenue and Gostlin Street designed for truck traffic, widened Gostlin Street, new curbs, sidewalks, roadways, and utilities as well as the demolition of the Ardillo’s building at the southeast corner of Gostlin and Sheffield to make way for the new roundabout. Overhead and underground utility relocations and building demolition begin now. The project is expected to be completed in October 2021. (concept renderings attached)
