Indianapolis Fire Dept.: The Marion County Health Department is working to clean up and test the water in Holly Creek at 79th and Westfield.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Marion County Health Department is working to clean up and investigate a north side creek after 3,000 gallons of human waste spilled from a septic tank truck Thursday morning, the Indianapolis Fire Department reports. The thousands of gallons spilled into Holly Creek at 79th and Westfield after a driveway bridge collapsed under the truck just before noon. No one was injured during the accident. IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith said the collapse took place when the driver crossed a wooden bridge after pumping out the homeowners septic tank. Reith said bridge damage is estimated at $70,000, and MCHD will continue water quality measurements and will work to get the waste cleaned up.
