Alligator Captured From Indiana Pond
Teens fishing in a plymouth pond said an alligator bit their bait.

PLYMOUTH, IN. — Plymouth residents witnessed something you don't see every day in Indiana, when an alligator was spotted in an area pond. WSBT reported two men helped capture the gator early Wednesday morning, a few days after teen boys saw the reptile when they were fishing as it tried to eat their bait. Brandon Crawford, of Goshen, was one of the men who caught the gator, telling WSBT he used to catch them in the south, where he's originally from.
Crawford told WSBT he lured the gator (pictured below) to shore by using a frog before the men called police, who sent someone out to pick it up.
According to the news report, Dr. Betsy Culp with Seven Oaks veterinary Clinic says the alligator was probably released by its owner, though owning these "unpredictable" creatures as pets isn't a good idea due to not having proper nutrition for their specific needs. The doctor adds that alligators can become very dangerous once they get bigger, and you shouldn't get close to them.

WSBT reported that a local couple with a special license to care for exotic animals plans to find the reptile a home at a zoo. In the state of Indiana you can own an alligator as a pet as long as it's less than 5 feet long.
