“At Allstate, we believe in improving lives and making communities stronger,” says Rebecca Flinn, Allstate Event Leader.
Throughout April, Allstate employees and agency owners across the country volunteered their time to address pressing social needs.
Recently, 22 Indianapolis-based Allstate employees and agency owners banded together with Gleaner's Food Bank of Indiana. The Allstate volunteers’ mission was to collect and distribute food. The volunteer project was part of Allstate’s annual Bring Out the Good Month. Held in April, Bring Out the Good Month encourages Allstate employees to volunteer for and donate to causes they care about in their local communities.
This volunteer project was one of hundreds supported by nearly 13,000 Allstaters. Together, Allstate employees and agency owners also raised more than $7 million for more than 8,000 nonprofit organizations.
“Bring Out the Good Month has special meaning for Allstaters,” adds Flinn. “It’s a time we can come together around the country to volunteer for the causes we’re passionate about and help staff soup kitchens, mentor youth and beautify community spaces. Supporting others is truly our purpose and it’s a source of pride for us.”
Gleaners is leading the fight against hunger in Indiana by distributing food to more than 250 partner agencies in 21 Indiana counties: food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. They provide direct services to those struggling with hunger, through programs such as BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids, School-Based Pantry, C.A.R.E. Mobile Pantry, and Community Cupboard. Their mission is simple and direct: To lead the fight against hunger.
In addition to volunteering during Allstate’s Bring Out the Good Month, Allstaters are encouraged to support local nonprofits throughout the year. In 2016, Allstate employees and agency owners donated 230,000 volunteer hours and supported more than 8,800 nonprofits with monetary donations.
