1. New charges filed against man accused in decade-long Indianapolis rape spree (wthr.com) — Indianapolis residents are learning of five new rape-related charges filed against a man already accused in a long-running series of sexual assaults on the city's north side. Prosecutors say fresh DNA evidence from a 2012 attack in a home near West 62nd Street and Georgetown Road led to the additional counts, after the victim fought off her attacker and escaped for help.
   

2. Mike Epps goes back to his roots at Indianapolis McDonald's (wthr.com) — Mike Epps is back in Indianapolis this weekend, revisiting the westside McDonald's where he once worked while the restaurant and two others donate a share of sales to his foundation. The nonprofit supports education, mentorship, neighborhood revitalization, and wellness-focused community events, tying Epps' Hollywood success directly back to local residents and businesses.
   

3. More than 60 from Allen County among WWII missing service members being honored (journalgazette.net) — A new memorial at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis is honoring 1,500 Indiana World War II service members missing in action, with a public dedication set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. Personalized bricks at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument include 63 with Allen County ties, and families are invited to attend, share stories, and help preserve these Hoosiers' histories online.
   

4. Hoosier Lottery Mega Millions, Cash 5 winning numbers for Aug. 28, 2026 (indystar.com) — Hoosier Lottery players can now check the Aug. 28 Mega Millions, Cash 5, Daily 3, Daily 4, Quick Draw, Cash Pop, and Millionaire for Life winning numbers and see if they've scored a prize. Larger winnings must be claimed at Hoosier Lottery headquarters on North Meridian Street in Indianapolis, with clear rules on where and how to file claims.
   

5. Indiana's sexual assault kit tracking portal to not relaunch until Spring 2027 (tristatehomepage.com) — State officials meeting in Indianapolis say Indiana's online sexual assault kit tracking portal likely won't be back online until spring 2027, two years after it was shut down over security vulnerabilities. Until then, survivors must call a state hotline with their kit number and PIN to get status updates, while a new, more secure system is developed.
