1. Indy City-County Councilor Ali Brown resigns for nonprofit role (wfyi.org) — An Indianapolis City-County Council seat is now open after Ali Brown resigned September 10 to lead the Indiana Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs. District 10 residents on the northeast side, including Lawrence and Fort Harrison areas, will soon see a caucus called by Marion County Democrats to choose their new representative, with a decision expected by October 10.
   

2. Person Arrested After Indiana, Purdue Issue Alerts for Indy Campuses (wibc.com) — Police arrested a 41-year-old man after a knife-related disturbance early Saturday near parking garages on Indiana University and Purdue University's Indianapolis campuses, which briefly triggered public safety alerts. The threat was lifted within minutes, but the case underscores how quickly IMPD and campus authorities can lock down key downtown areas when weapons are involved.
   

3. Indianapolis Indians Announce Central Indiana Flood Relief Total (oursportscentral.com) — The Indianapolis Indians and their charity arm have raised $25,372.55 to support central Indiana flood relief, with a check presentation planned before tonight's home game. Future restoration projects in affected areas will also involve volunteers from the team and WM, extending help to Indianapolis and nearby communities hit by last month's flooding.
   

4. Called & Crafted 2026: We Choose Joy (starofzion.org) — Ministry leaders and preachers in Indianapolis are invited to Called & Crafted 2026, a three-day conference October 19–21 at the University of Indianapolis focused on the theme "We Choose Joy." With worship, teaching, wellness activities, and AME Zion leaders, the gathering offers local caregivers space for renewal, reflection, and holistic support amid demanding community work.
   

5. US diesel prices reach record $6.16 per gallon, hitting all-time high (wishtv.com) — Diesel prices have surged to a record U.S. average of $6.16 per gallon, and Indianapolis drivers are seeing more than $6 at local pumps despite Indiana's relatively low gasoline costs. Local truckers say daily fuel-ups are straining their budgets, and experts warn higher diesel costs could soon push grocery and other goods prices higher for Indianapolis households.
