Nearly 900 homes and businesses in Wayne County now have access to Xfinity and Comcast Business Internet services following the completion of Comcast's latest network expansion project in the area. Communities benefiting from the expansion include Centerville, Richmond, Webster and Williamsburg.

The expansion brings multi-gigabit, symmetrical Internet service to residents and businesses that previously did not have access to Comcast's network. Customers can now choose from Xfinity's residential services, including Internet, mobile, TV and home security products, while businesses can access Comcast Business connectivity and technology solutions.

Richmond Mayor Ronald Oler called the investment a positive development for the region.

"Comcast's continued investment in Wayne County is welcome news for our residents and businesses," Oler said. "By bringing fast, dependable Internet service to nearly 900 additional homes and businesses, this expansion will strengthen connectivity across our communities and help support future growth and opportunity throughout the region."

According to Comcast, the Wayne County project is part of the company's broader investment in Indiana, following a recent expansion that connected more than 1,100 homes and businesses in Allen County to Xfinity and Comcast Business services.

Matt Quantz, Regional Senior Vice President of Comcast's Heartland Region, said the expansion gives residents and businesses access to more than just Internet connectivity.

"Wayne County residents and businesses now have access to more than fast, reliable Internet," Quantz said. "They can bring together Xfinity Internet, Mobile, entertainment and home security for a simpler, more connected experience, while local businesses can use Comcast Business solutions to stay productive, secure and ready to grow."

For residents, Xfinity is offering high-speed Internet with multi-gigabit speeds, mobile service, streaming and television options, voice services and home security products. Comcast says its home security and WiFi protection offerings are designed to help customers better secure connected devices throughout the home.

Businesses in Wayne County can access Comcast Business Internet and networking services, including cloud connectivity, unified communications and SD-WAN solutions. Comcast Business Mobile also provides 5G service, flexible wireless plans and access to millions of WiFi hotspots nationwide.

Beyond network construction, Comcast highlighted its ongoing digital equity efforts in Wayne County through programs such as Internet Essentials, which provides low-cost Internet service and affordable computers to eligible households. The company also supports local nonprofits, WiFi-connected Lift Zones and other initiatives focused on digital skills and broadband adoption.

Residents can check service availability through Xfinity, while businesses can confirm eligibility through Comcast Business.
