Walmart is bringing its Wellness Day event back to the Indianapolis area next Saturday, Oct. 17, giving families across Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, Boone, Johnson and Hancock counties an easy way to check in on their health and preventive care while running their regular errands.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., participating Walmart stores throughout the greater Indianapolis area will offer free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and BMI checks, open to everyone regardless of insurance coverage. Pharmacists will also be on hand to provide no-cost flu shots for most patients with insurance, subject to restrictions, along with other recommended vaccinations and immunizations where available.

The event comes as flu season ramps up across Indiana and as Medicare Open Enrollment opens Oct. 15, a time when many families start thinking about preventive care and what their coverage includes for the months ahead.

One of the topics Walmart pharmacists are hearing questions about right now is vaccines. From seasonal flu and COVID-19 to MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), Tdap and other routine immunizations, pharmacists can help answer customers' questions and provide information about available vaccines and preventive health resources. Walmart Wellness Day is another opportunity for customers to stop by, speak with a pharmacist and learn more about available health and wellness resources.

Wellness Day will also include a focus on GLP-1 medications, as more Hoosiers explore options like the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. Pharmacists can walk customers through coverage questions, what to expect when starting a new prescription, and ways to manage costs, including generics and other savings options.

For busy households in the suburbs and across the city, the idea is simple: take care of a health checkup the same way you would any other stop on your weekend list, without adding an extra errand to the day.

Residents can find their nearest participating Walmart location and store hours at Walmart.com/stores.
