Boy, 7, Drowns At Indy Island Aquatic Center
Indianapolis police officials are investigating after a 7-year-old boy drowned at Indy Island Aquatic Center Saturday: Report

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A death investigation is underway after a young boy drowned Saturday afternoon at an indoor Indianapolis water park. Indianapolis Fire Department officials say witnesses told them the 7-year-old boy might have suffered a medical emergency that caused him to go under water just before 2:30 p.m. at Indy Island Aquatic Center on the city's southeast side. According to IFD, a 10-year-old child and a lifeguard noticed that the boy was under water and the female lifeguard was able to alert other guards before jumping into the six-foot pool to retrieve the boy.
IFD officials say the lifeguard was able to pull the boy from the pool and was immediately helped by other lifeguards and a supervisor before she started CPR. Her team members called 911 and grabbed a nearby AED in efforts to save the child.
IFD says the boy and his mother were taken to Riley Hospital for Children around 2:40 p.m., where he later died.
