One Suspect Arrested, One Dead In Richmond Manhunt: Police

RICHMOND, IN — Friday's hours-long manhunt in Richmond is over. WQLK reported that according to police, one of the two male suspects was captured by authorities near an area Meijer store, and the other took his life. Richmond Police Department officials said in a release that at 1 p.m. Friday, officers tried to apprehend two fugitives wanted on felony child molestation charges. The two men escaped into a Richmond reservoir before going into a heavily wooded area at 1750 Sylvan Nook Drive, police said.
In a news release, police said the fugitives are Charles and Alan Estep. Police say Charles, 27, is a white male, 5’9', 150 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes. He's wanted for parole violation as well as level IV felony child molesting, according to police. Alan, also 27, is a white male, 5’9', 160 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes, police said.
Officers from several other agencies, including the Wayne County Sheriff’s Dept. US Marshall’s Service, Indiana State Police, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Dept., Indiana University Police Department, Indiana DNR, and Centerville Police Department are assisting in the extensive search of the area. RPD said multiple SWAT teams, watercraft and drones piloted by the Richmond Fire Department were used in the search.

Emergency officials at the Indiana University East campus say buildings in the area remain locked down as the IUPD, Richmond Police Department and other state and local officials are chasing two male suspects south of campus, as one is reported to be armed with a gun.

FOX 59/CBS 4 reported that Richmond Police say the two men are wanted outside of the district for child molestation.
Suspects are being described as two males, one with black t-shirt reported to have a gun, and one with gray t-shirt and an unknown weapon.
WKBV reported around just after 2:20 p.m. Friday that the armed suspect is at Middlefork Reservoir and for all to avoid the area as law enforcement officials and emergency crews are on scene.
IU East emergency officials say police are stationed in nearby lots to help those who wish to leave buildings.
Wayne County Indiana Emergency Communications and IU Emergency Management officials say take shelter and do not approach the suspect.
