Continued Support from Congress to End Alzheimer's and Other Dementias

Over 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Alzheimer's is a devastating disease. I know, because I watched my mother suffer from the disease for over 10 years. What should have been her best years, were her worst years. At age 67 she was diagnosed, and it wasn't long before she was on a dark and frightening journey. She died at age 79. Our family also watched our mother's brother and sister, brother in-law and my father in-law all die from Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. This is why I have been an Advocate for the Alzheimer's Association for 5 years. At least 110,000 other families in Indiana have a story similar to mine. It is important that our elected officials support Alzheimer's policies and funding, so families stop losing loved ones to this disease.

Our commitment to ending Alzheimer's has led to monumental investments in dementia research, care and support over the past decade, but we must keep working to secure critical advancement in detection, diagnosis, and treatment of Alzheimer's and all other dementia.
