Court Upholds Evidence Of Effort To Kill Witness

Indiana Court of Appeals is upholding jail phone recordings and other evidence in man's effort to kill witness of 2012 explosion: Report

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Court of Appeals of Indiana is upholding the murder conspiracy conviction of the man behind a 2012 massive and deadly Indianapolis house explosion, Associated Press reports. According to the news outlet the gas explosion killed two next-door neighbors and damaged or destroyed more than 80 nearby homes. The court ruled Thursday that evidence of Mark Leonard's efforts to get a witness killed, which included recordings of his jail phone calls to an undercover agent and a map to the male witness' home, weren't obtained in violation of his right to counsel due to involving a later crime, AP reports.

Leonard received 50 years in Feb. for trying to have the witness killed, in addition to the life without parole and 75 years he already had for murder, arson and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud in the 2012 explosion that also destroyed his girlfriend's home.
