Photos: Crews Investigating Structure Collapse at Southwest Side Rolls Royce Plant

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — An investigation is underway after 200 feet of piping collapsed at a building on the southwest side of Indianapolis, Wayne Township Fire Department reports. No one was injured when the high pressure pipes collapsed just before noon Friday outside the Rolls Royce North American Technologies building at 2001 S. Tibbs Ave. WTFD said the plant was evacuated and the Indianapolis Fire Department Structural Collapse Team provided assistance as the incident was quickly brought under control.

Department officials said there may have been a high pressure air release before or during the collapse, projected a part of the piping several hundred feel and severely damaging an outbuilding.

Engineers for Rolls Royce and WTFD Fire Investigators are working to determine a cause.
