Dog Wags Tail As Indy Firefighters Give Her Oxygen After Fire

Lady the dog was grateful to her rescuers after a garage fire Monday in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Wayne Township Fire Department crews in Indianapolis and a local dog named Lady have become fast friends after the department rescued the animal from a garage fire Monday afternoon, Nov. 26 in the 700 block of South Whitcomb Avenue. According to WTFD, a few minutes of oxygen and some "TLC" from firefighters and medics did just the trick to get the homeowner's dog's tail wagging, and have her back on her feet.

News of WTFD and Lady, described as a "sweet girl," spread fast as the group was featured as the closing segment just a few hours later on ABC World News Tonight with David Muir (below).

WTFD, Indianapolis Fire Department crews and Speedway Fire Department members all responded to the reported building fire at 1 p.m. Monday, which was brought under control in 15 minutes, WTFD said. Fire officials said the fire caused heavy damage to the structure, and was accidentally caused by a "faulty wood-burning stove."(Subscribe to the Indianapolis Patch daily newsletter which is delivered to your inbox once a day to keep you updated with breaking news and other updates, for free.
