Ella Whistler, NWMS Students To Sing Anthem At Colts Game

The game against the Miami Dolphins at Lucas Oil Stadium will start at 4:25 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — If you're going to Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday for the Indianapolis Colts game against the Miami Dolphins, you'll hear the Noblesville West Middle School show choir sing the national anthem before kickoff, the school announced. According to several reports, Ella Whistler, the student shot by a classmate during a May 25 school shooting, will be among the group of singers.

The Colts continue to support the school's community as everyone continues healing months after the shooting, including Whistler, who has been recovering after undergoing emergency, life-saving surgery.

The team has invited school members to several events, including Colts training camp in July, where Whistler was asked to break down the team's huddle at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield. The week after the shooting, the Colts showed support for Whistler and her teacher, Jason Seaman, who was also shot several times in the shooting, by wearing #NobStrong shirts during practice. The shirts had Seaman's college football number (91) and Ella Whistler's initials, in addition to Seaman's words "You are the reason I teach" and the hashtag. Proceeds from the shirts went to the pair.
