The progress we have made in the fight to end Alzheimer’s would not have been possible without bipartisan Congressional support, and this November I am thankful to work with Congressman Andre Carson in honor of my mother, who suffered for over 10 years with this devastating disease. Having had to watch my mother suffer and deteriorate day by day is the reason I advocate for continued research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and all other dementias.
With the National Alzheimer’s Project Act set to expire in 2025, we need Congress to support the NAPA Reauthorization Act to make sure progress in addressing Alzheimer’s and dementia continues. Along with NAPA, the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Accountability and Investment Act would require the National Institute of Health (NIH) to continue to submit an annual Professional Judgement Budget to Congress to ensure Alzheimer’s and dementia research is funded at appropriate levels.
That is why I am calling on my Congressman Andre Carson to cosponsor and support the NAPA Reauthorization Act and the Alzheimer’s Accountability and Investment Act to continue prioritizing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Today there is not cure, so I am thankful for my fellow advocates and Members of Congress, especially Congressman Andre Carson for their support for a world without Alzheimer’s and all dementias.
