Glassdoor Names Indianapolis Second Best City For Jobs In U.S.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — If you work in Indianapolis, you're clocking career hours in the second-best city in the country for jobs, according to Glassdoor. The job search website released its "25 Best Cities for Jobs 2017" list, putting only Pittsburgh in front of Indianapolis. How were these rankings determined? There were a few details Glassdoor measured.
Glassdoor took popular metro areas in the U.S. and looked at their median base salary, job satisfaction, median home value (cost of living) and job openings. The job search engine graded each category on a five-point scale, and even listed the hottest jobs for that area, which are machine operator, marketing manager and development and operations (DevOps) engineer.
Indy's total? 3.3 out of 5 on Glassdoor, as our metro area's median base salary for available jobs is $43,000, median home value is $138,000, and there are more than 80,500 job openings.
