Hoosiers Come Together to Create a Future Free of Lung Cancer

Evening of Promise gala to raise awareness, funds for #1 cancer killer

In 2018, an estimated 5,800 Hoosiers will be diagnosed with lung cancer and nearly 4,000 will die from the disease. In an effort to change this and create a future free of lung cancer, the American Lung Association in Indiana will host their Evening of Promise Gala on November 3 at JW Marriott Indianapolis.

The black tie event will feature a “future” theme this year to raise awareness for lung cancer and funds for vital research to end lung cancer and lung disease. During the event, the Lung Association will honor Larry Einhorn, MD, Indiana Distinguished Professor, with the Legacy Award for his innovative approach to lung cancer treatment and his quest to improve patient outcomes.

“Dr. Einhorn is a local Indianapolis resident who has made leaps forward in lung cancer treatment and is known across the country for his groundbreaking work,” said Tanya Husain, executive director for the Lung Association. “This year’s event will be truly impactful, as we will hear about Dr. Einhorn’s newest research and also from a lung cancer survivor who has benefitted from his cutting edge treatments. It shows the vital need for lung cancer research funding here in Indianapolis and across the nation.”

The Evening of Promise is one of the largest and most prominent Lung Association galas in the country. Last year, the Evening of Promise raised more than $500,000.

The event takes place on Saturday, November 3 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. It includes a live and silent auction, live music and dancing. Almost 90 cents of every dollar raised goes to the Lung Association’s programs and services, including research, advocacy and public health education.
