Humane Society Of Indianapolis Takes In 11 Dogs From Houston Shelters

PLUS: Details on adopting the rescued dogs.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Humane Society of Indianapolis has welcomed 11 dogs from Houston shelters as Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts continue in Texas. On Monday, IndyHumane posted a statement on its Facebook page announcing the news, after staff picked the dogs up in Chicago. IndyHumane continues to update community members through the Facebook page and on the IndyHumane website.

IndyHumane told Patch the dogs arrived at the Indianapolis location last night, and still have to go through the usual medical and behavioral evaluations before they will be available for adoption.

"When they are available, their profiles will appear on our website at indyhumane.org/dogs," IndyHumane said.
