INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Several members of the Indianapolis Fire Department and police officials spent hours caring for and being patient with a man who was trying to take his own life on Wednesday afternoon at White River. IFD posted photos on social media of the three-hour timeframe where medics, department dive team members, IMPD officers and IFD officials came together to help the man on scene at Kentucky Avenue over White River.

"3 hours of patience, compassion & solid police negotiating brought a man determined to take his own life, to a successful conclusion without injury at Kentucky Ave. & White River," IFD said in the post.

Twitter user Keith Hutchison responded to IFD's Tweet, saying "I saw this yesterday on a ride, I'm thankful he was brought to safety."
