Indiana State Police: 1 Dead, 4 Hurt In Police Chase Crash
An Indianapolis man drove away from a traffic stop before crashing into two cars, killing one and injuring four: Report

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana State Police say one person is dead and four are injured after a man refused a traffic stop before crashing into two cars Tuesday in Indianapolis. ISP say a trooper tried to stop an Oldsmobile driven by 37-year-old Mark Padgett, of Indianapolis, around 7:15 p.m. on East 16th St. and North Post Rd. before Padgett drove away. According to officials, the trooper chased the car for about four minutes before the Oldsmobile hit two cars and caught fire.
ISP says Padgett's car hit a BMW carrying two passengers at Brookville Road and Arlington Avenue, then continued and hit a 2005 GMC pickup truck with four people inside before catching fire.
According to officials 32-year-old Michael Ramsey, of Indianapolis, was in the front passenger seat of the Oldsmobile and was pronounced dead after being taken to Methodist Hospital.

Of the four people in the pickup truck, two suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Methodist Hospital, and the two people in the BMW were taken to Eskenazi Hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
Police say during the investigation officials found that Padgett had an outstanding theft warrant. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with broken bones in his right leg

ISP says this investigation will continue and is being sent to the Marion County Prosecutors Office.
