Indiana Task Force 1 Sending Group To Help With Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts
IFD Battalion Chief is leading an Indiana Task Force 1 team to help with Hurricane Maria relief efforts in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Indianapolis Fire Department officials report a United States Air Force Type IV Task Force Team has been activated to help with Hurricane Maria relief efforts. IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith said Battalion Chief Tom Neal has asked 27 members of USAR Indiana-Task Force 1 to report to IN-TF1 headquarters, where depart by 5 p.m. for Wright Patterson Air Force base in Dayton, OH, where they will await a plane for transport to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The category 4 storm has killed at least four people.

This activation takes place one day after INTF-1 Hazmat Support Team arrived home in Indianapolis after back-to-back Hurricane response efforts to Harvey and Irma.
