Indiana tornado survivors affected by tornado can apply for assistance

Storm survivors of the March 31 tornado that struck in portions of southern Indiana including Monroe County, can now get some much-needed relief.

The relief comes from the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will visit Stinesville Elementary School on Main St. in Stinesville, Ind. that started today and will run until May 9.

According to the Monroe County Emergency Management Center, The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will also make more trips back to the area on May 10 and 20 from 8 A.M.-6 P.M. along with May 18-19 from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.

All of the interactions with FEMA will be at the same elementary school each time they come.

The Center will be open and functioning to aid to families in need after the tragedy.

Along with FEMA making rounds to help those in need, the report also mentions that members of the United States Small Business Administration, and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, will be at the center providing resources for victims along with providing applications to those in need for federal emergency aid along with answering questions about the application.

Anyone who cannot make it to the relief site can still apply for assistance according to the report, by going online to the Disaster Assistance dot gov website, using the FEMA app on a device, or calling 800-621-3362, along with a video conferencing option through a video relay service or captioned telephone service.

The emergency management service pointed out that those who are in need of federal emergency aid application should apply for assistance by the end of the day on June 14.
