Indianapolis Colts Release Cornerback Vontae Davis

The Indianapolis Colts announce the release of Vontae Davis: Report

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indianapolis Colts report they've released cornerback Vontae Davis. In a release, the Colts announced the decision Thursday morning regarding the 5-11, 207-pound player who the team acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins in 2012. Davis has played 120 career games, according to the Colts.

According to ESPN, Davis has made the choice to undergo season-ending groin surgery. This follows the Colts decision to sit Davis out for last weekend's trip and game to Houston, against the Texans.

The Colts release of Davis comes nearly a week after the team announced quarterback Andrew Luck has been placed on the team's injury reserve list.
