An Indianapolis family has lost everything after a fire broke out in their apartment Friday, Indianapolis Fire Department officials say. IFD says Alexis Green, her six children and granddaughter moved into their Villa Del Sol apartment at 3507 N. Mission Drive just a month ago, but had moved their belongings in Friday. Hours later a fire caused $300,000 worth of damage to the apartment, but all family members are thankfully safe with no injuries, IFD reports.

IFD says crews were called to the scene just after 6 p.m. and arrived minutes later to heavy smoke and fire. 10 IFD units, in addition to crews from Speedway Fire, Pike Township Fire and Wayne Township Fire also responded.

IFD officials say firefighters didn't have any trouble other than bitter temperatures and slick surfaces due to water from the fire, and some apparatus responses were delayed due to slick, snow covered roadways and rush hour traffic.
