Indianapolis Given B+ Grade In Small Business Owners Survey
Thumbtack releases results of annual Small Business Friendliness Survey, including Indiana's grade from local small business owners.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indianapolis received a B+ grade in Thumbtack's most recent survey. Thumbtack released the grades from its 2017 Small Business Friendliness Survey on Tuesday, showing the results of what the company calls the largest continuous study of small business perceptions of government policy in the country. Thumbtack, the website and app finding you local professionals for any project, says they surveyed more than 13,000 small business owners in 80 cities and 50 states to evaluate just how easy local governments make it to start, operate and grow a small business.
According to Thumbtack, Indiana ranked 29 out of 80 cities, and earned its B+ grade for overall small business friendliness. According to the website, this is 2% better than last year, and equates to an A+ ranking as Indiana was ranked 8 out of 50 states.
The lowest grades received by the Hoosier state were a B- for zoning and a C+ for training and networking programs.

This year, Indianapolis ranked 29 (out of 80 cities) and earned a B+ for overall small business friendliness. It scored 2% better than last year. For reference, Indiana received an A+, ranking 8 (out of 50).
