The Circle City will host three USA Diving events at the newly renovated IU Natatorium on IUPUI's campus from 2019-2021, headlined by the trials June 13-21, 2020. The Olympic Team Trials - Diving will determine the divers who will represent the United States at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, officials say.

First up? The 2019 USA Diving Senior National Championships taking place May 16 through 26, featuring 200 athletes and airing on NBC May 25 to 26, according to a release from USA Diving and Indiana Sports Corp .

The 2020 trials in June will take place over nine days with more than 120 of the country's best divers, competing for a spot on the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team. Pending U.S. qualification into the Olympics, officials say competition will take place for both men and women in individual and synchronized 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform.

This will be the seventh time Indianapolis has hosted the trials, following those in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2008 and 2016.

IUPUI officials say that prior to the 2016 Trials, the IU Natatorium underwent a five-phase renovation including an enhanced interior design and widening of the diving tower, in addition to a state-of-the-art video board that was added to the facility in 2017.

USA Diving and Indiana Sports Corp officials say the 2021 USA Diving Junior National Championships will round out the three-year commitment, taking place from July 29 through Aug. 4. During this, more than 500 junior divers, ages 18 and under, will have the opportunity to compete at the same venue the 2020 Olympians qualified at, which will be quite motivational.
