Indianapolis Paramedics Treat ODs From Drugs Laced With Bug Spray

Indianapolis emergency responders are treating people who are overdosing from bug spray-laced drugs: Report

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Drugs or substances laced with heavy-duty insect spray. This, my friends, is apparently the latest way to get high. According to AP News, emergency responders in Indianapolis have been recently treating people who’ve overdosed on tobacco, marijuana and even banana leaves laced with bug spray. According to the news report, Indianapolis firefighter Scott Lebherz says some people seeking a greater high have been spraying insect spray on those and then smoking or ingesting the combination.

The Indianapolis Star reports Lebherz said once users do that, they enter a 45-minute high that leaves them nearly catatonic, adding that considering what insect spray does to bugs, you’ve “got to think what it’s doing to your brain, and your body and everything else.”

According to the news report, Indiana Poison Center medical director Daniel Rusyniak says people abusing bug spray likely already have deep addiction issues.

This bug spray-infused high follows recent arrests from investigations surrounding reports that several people began overdosing on synthetic marijuana, known as spice (street name Katie), within the homeless population near the Wheeler Mission and the Downtown District at the end of January.
