IPS Teachers See Raise In Sight Under New Contract

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A raise is in sight for Indianapolis Public Schools teachers following a new union contract with the school district, Associated Press reports via Indy Star. AP says Indy Star reports the agreement between the school district and the Indianapolis Education Association moves teachers
ahead on a salary schedule, adding that raises will reportedly include the current school year. AP reports via Indy Star that district officials hope to get payments to teachers soon, as the average raise is about 2 percent.
Who is eligible? Teachers covered by the agreement who also received an “effective” or “highly effective” rating on their last evaluation, and have been with IPS for at least 120 days.
AP reports via Indy Star that the agreement also gives teachers additional ways to increase their paychecks ny taking on more "teacher leader" roles.
