Mooresville Veteran & Service Dog Honored for #StillServing

Mooresville veteran Otis Pugh and his service dog Draven are being honored for dedication to country and community in the VFW #StillServing campaign. The national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign recognizes veterans who continue to serve in their community after the military and, during the month of September, focuses on those who do so with a service dog.

A US Army veteran, Pugh is #StillServing by raising funds to pay for veterans to get a service dog and, with his service dog Draven, offering service dog training. He says it is gratifying to see a veteran receive a new puppy and train with it to become a service dog. His service dog, Draven, wakes him from PTSD-related nightmares, alerts him to situations that may trigger anxiety and enables him to go out in public.

Pugh’s veteran fund raisers have included fishing tournaments, golf outings and raffles, and in addition to funding service dogs also finance antelope and elk hunting in Wyoming for disabled veterans.

Additionally, Pugh sponsors veterans to come to his farm to hunt turkey, deer and fish White Lick creek as well as funding Purple Heart recipients to turkey and deer hunt at Camp Atterbury.
