At the Board of Educating meeting on August 23, 2021, the School Board of the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township approved the appointment of Mr. Daniel (Dan) Kuznik to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education. Mr. Kuznik will transition to this new role effective immediately from that of Director of Secondary Education, a role he has held since June of 2018. Prior to joining the MSD of Lawrence Township, he was the Principal of Lincoln Middle School and Assistant Principal of Guion Creek Middle School in the MSD of Pike Township. He has served in public education for over 20 years.

Mr. Kuznik was the 2008 Indiana Teacher of the Year and earned his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Valparaiso University in 2001. His Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction (2007), Administrative Licensure Program (2008), and Education Specialist Degree (2019) are from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Regarding his new position, Kuznik shares, “My entire career has been at the secondary level learning and growing with regard to how to best help students and staff advance to the next level of excellence. As a leader of principals, I strongly believe my skill set would complement district leadership in their ongoing quest to lead with equity at the forefront and to be the district of destination where excellence empowers everyone to reach his/her potential.”

According to superintendent, Dr. Shawn A. Smith, “We are proud to promote Mr. Kuznik to Assistant Superintendent. He has worked hard as a Director and brings experiences and knowledge that will benefit our schools.”
