The Indiana office has raised more than $1.25 million supporting research efforts through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

INDIANAPOLIS, June 5, 2024 – Northwestern Mutual Indiana hosted its annual fundraiser, ‘Drive for a Cure,’ to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Northwestern Mutual Indiana leads the company in fundraising efforts for childhood cancer, fueling over 24,000 hours of lifesaving research to date and $1.25 million in donations to fund projects that pave the way for better treatments.

“For over ten years, we’ve been honored to host ‘Drive for a Cure’ and each year we’re deeply moved by the community’s support,” said Dave Kiecker, managing partner of Northwestern Mutual Indiana. “Every dollar raised at these events and through our network office brings hope and a promise of a brighter tomorrow to the affected families.”

Attendees gathered for a golf outing, silent auction and live music. This year’s event raised $155,000 in donations, funding approximately 3,000 hours of childhood cancer research.

“The partnership with Northwestern Mutual has helped push the boundaries of cancer research, bringing us closer to a reality where no child or their loved ones have to endure the pain of cancer,” said Liz Scott, Alex’s mother and co-executive director of ALSF. "While this mission can seem daunting at times, Alex’s belief that 'we can do it’ if we all work together continues to inspire us."

In addition to the support of the Indiana office, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, has funded more than 700,000 hours of research to accelerate the search for better treatments and cures for childhood cancer and contributed more than $60 million to the cause overall. About Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $250 million so far, funding over 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
